I used to have an appliance that I really liked. It had different plates – one set for a griddle, one for waffles, I think the third set was for sandwiches. Unfortunately, it eventually died and of course the same appliance was no longer available. So I now have a Cuisinart waffle maker that I also like. But I still prefer this waffle recipe that came with my old appliance. It makes waffles that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Pass the syrup!
- 2 eggs
- 1¾ cups milk
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- In a large bowl, whisk eggs until foamy. Add remaining ingredients and beat until just smooth.
- Preheat your waffle maker and spray with non-stick spray. Pour batter onto preheated pan, close and cook until browned.
- Serve with syrup and fresh fruit if desired.
To make these waffles gluten-free:
Substitute all purpose gluten-free flour for regular all purpose flour. Make batter and allow it to sit for 20-30 minutes. Cook waffles as above.
